OPM, Lewis Colam, 24, has decided to inject some adventure into his life by rowing 1400 miles up the east coast of America. Raising money for the Fischer Centre, an Alzheimers' research foundation, Lewis set out from Miami on Saturday in a 15-foot open-decked boat to follow the coastline to New York.
After leaving Plymouth College in 2006, Lewis studied Politics at York University and for the last two years he has been working in a Covent Garden consultancy. Despite enjoying his life in London, Lewis decided it was time to take a break and find a new challenge.
With no prior rowing or seafaring experience, Lewis is rowing for 18 hours a day and sleeping at anchor on the boat. At night he is open to the elements and is at the mercy of alligators and snakes as he paddles through the southern states of the USA.
