Plymouth College pupil and world diver, Tom Daley, 17, has won a silver medal at the opening FINA Diving World Series in Dubai.
Tom proved that he is on track for the Olympics in a dramatic individual 10m platform contest after pushing China's gold medal winner, Qui Bo, all the way. Taking an early lead with his first dive, Tom had to settle for silver and 539 points after the Chinese diver went into first place with his second dive and finished on 569 points.
This was Tom's first individual competition this year. Next up is the second of the World Series events in Beijing.
With an A* in A Level Art already achieved, and having taken most of his A Level Maths and Spanish modules in January for which he achieved 4 A grades, the flexibility of Tom's timetable means that he can concentrate on his diving in the coming months. He will complete his remaining A Level modules in the Autumn.
