Plymouth College's 1st XV have moved into the semi-final of the Devon Cup with a convincing performance in the quarter-final against near-neighbours, Ivybridge Community College.
In difficult conditions, Plymouth College dominated possession and territory, using superiority at scrum time to retain control. With James 'shnarks' Jakins making huge metres up the right flank and other power ball carriers also making inroads, the score board ticked over. At half time Plymouth College were four tries to the good, but had also lost Jacob Kingscott to a shoulder injury.
The second half did not start well and Plymouth College eased up just as Ivybridge staged a fight back, resulting in a well taken try by the Ivybridge stand-off, though defensively Plymouth were also guilty of lassitude. The storm was weathered, though, and Plymouth College responded with further tries to finish comfortable victors 41-7.
