Three members of Plymouth College's Combined Cadet Force (CCF) have each received a Lord-Lieutenant of Devon award for their service and commitment to cadet forces.

Captain David Green, Lt Zoe Boyle and Cadet Coxwain Henry Loxdale all attended the ceremony held at Plymouth City Council and received their awards in front of 150 assembled dignitaries, guests and family.  Presenting the awards was Sir Eric Dancer, Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Devon and Her Majesty's representative in the county.  After the award ceremony there was a reception and drinks for all those who attended.

That evening Cadet Coxwain Henry Loxdale, 17, was appointed a Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet, a post he will hold for one year.  He will have a variety of tasks that will include hosting and support during Royal Visits to the county as well as other ceremonial duties. Henry has recently taken part as a wreath bearer during the Plymouth Hoe Remembrance Service, which was attended by almost 10,000 people.

Plymouth College CCF Contingent Commander Lt Col Pete Lewis said: "To receive one Lord-Lieutenant award is a real honour so to have three awarded to members of the same cadet force is pretty special.

"We are very proud of our CCF, which includes students and staff from Stoke Damerel Community College.  I am delighted that both schools have been represented in these awards - Cadet Coxwain Henry Loxdale is Deputy Head Boy of Plymouth College, while Captain Green and Lt Boyle are teachers at Plymouth College and Stoke Damerel Community College respectively."
