
Nearly 50 children from Plymouth College Preparatory School took part in this year's Plymouth Speech and Drama Festival.
Class winners included: Olivia Eadie 6 Years and Under Verse Speaking and Humorous Verse 7 Years and Under; Kate Short 8 Years Solo Verse Speaking; Matthew Beard Under 11 Years Impromptu Storytelling; Rebecca Eadie Personal Project 10&11 Years and Original Composition 12 Years and Under; Katherine Treharne Under 9 Years Bible Reading and Arpitha Abraham Sight Reading Under 12 Years and 9 and Under 12 Years Bible Reading. Arpitha was also awarded the Distin Cup for the highest overall mark in the Bible Reading classes.
As well as the ten wins, Prep pupils secured a further seven runners-up spots. All the children that took part in the festival had their certificates and prizes presented in an Assembly held in the school chapel.
"I am delighted that so many of our children took part in the festival," said Plymouth College Preparatory School Headmaster, Chris Gatherer. "The confidence gained from competing in events like this is great to see and plays a big part in helping our pupils to develop and flourish. Many thanks to the speech and drama teachers Mrs Pick, Mrs Eadie and Miss Driscoll."
