More than 100 sixth formers crammed into the Meade-King Hall for the annual Sixth Form Quiz. The hype was over and the battle for the coveted trophy, hand-carved from a lightning-struck Oak tree, could begin.
The big question was whether the young bucks of the Lower Sixth could beat the old hands of the Upper Sixth. Team membership was carefully selected based on subject specialisms.
Quizmaster Shields challenged the teams on varieties of potato, characters in Monsters' University, the seating capacity of premiership rugby grounds and roman numerals. Teams racked their brains for Simon Cowell's age and the names of Thomas the Tank Engine's friends.
It came down to the final round, with the youthful Lower Sixth team "Gale Kills Prim" securing victory.
